Scholarships and Grants

Alabama PTA offers scholarships and grants to support its mission of empowering students, families, and educators. These opportunities are designed to:
 

  1. Encourage Educational Excellence: Scholarships help students pursue higher education and achieve their academic and career goals.
     

  2. Support Teachers and Schools: Grants fund innovative programs, resources, and initiatives that enhance learning environments and benefit students.
     

  3. Promote Equity: By providing financial assistance, Alabama PTA helps ensure that opportunities are accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic status.
     

  4. Foster Community Engagement: These programs strengthen partnerships between families, schools, and communities, reinforcing the shared goal of student success.

Sally Mitchell Reading Grant

Local unit PTAs in good standing, may apply for a $500 Reading Grant for their school library or a classroom teacher may apply for reading materials.

Mary Edith Jones Scholarship

The Mary Edith Jones General Scholarship supports graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education at accredited institutions, including vocational schools, trade schools, and two- or four-year colleges.

 

One scholarship awarded per year.

Yvonne Ballentine Memorial Reflections Scholarship

The Ballentine Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a high school senior who has participated in

the Reflections program.

Applications will open Jan 17, 2025​

One scholarship awarded per year.

Pam Berry Transformative Family Engagement Grant

a $500 grant available to any Alabama unit PTA in good standing that is striving to improve, enhance, or transform its family engagement programming.

One grant awarded per year.
